Off to JAM !

2006 MIDWEST REGIONAL BARISTA GUILD JAM is where I'll be heading. Next Friday I plan to head out with Bj Davis by my side and drive seven hours to get there. I'd like to visit some fellow roasting friends at PT's Coffee and The Roasterie. Most likely I'll see them all at the JAM.

The event is being held at the JOHNSON COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE in Overland Park, Kansas. There will be comparative tastings of Single Origin Press Pot Coffees vs. Single Origin Espressos. This one sounds right up my alley! I'll have to do a lot of cracker eating to cleanse my palette.

Triangular Cupping, Espresso 101, Advanced Espresso Techniques, Milk Steaming and Advanced Milk Steaming Techniques, and some wonder Latte Art being served up by 2006 USBC Champion Matt Riddle. Wow, all of this for a mere pittance of :BGA Member Jam Fee: $50 and Non-BGA Member Jam Fee: $90.

If you got the time, I highly recommend it. This is a nice regional gathering where all Barista and Coffee Shop owners can learn or improve their techniques. If you can't make to this one then the next 2006 Midwest Regional Barista Competition will be held in February at Navy Peir in Chicago. Hey! We'll be exhibiting there, remember to ask us for a free admission pass. Now if you can't make it, plan to hit the Annual SCAA Conference and Exhibition in Long Beach.

Guess I better start figuring what songs I'm going to load up in MP3 Player. I'm Sure most will be Independent Music. I believe in what I preach, support the Independents whether it’s Music, Coffee Shops, Restaurants, etc....

See you there!
